Keith Neuharth celebrating with his wife.

Meet the Team: Keith Neuharth

June 5, 2019

Through the month of June and into July, we'll be introducing one of our team members every week.

This week, meet one of our Architects, Keith! Keith just celebrated 21 years with RSArchitects, and has been practicing architecture for over 30 years now.

Who is your favorite architect?
Although I have not gravitated towards one particular style of architecture during my career, I have always admired Frank Lloyd Wright for his design innovations and willingness to push the design envelope to the breaking point and beyond.

What is your favorite memory so far at RSArchitects?
My 20th year work anniversary, and working on the Sioux Falls Law Enforcement Center.

What is your favorite phase of the design process?
My answer is two-fold, design development and construction.
Design Development – Where we take a client’s thought’s, ideas, and vision, and mold that into a design that gives the owner a new and dynamic space to live or work in. Construction – Being able to watch the building of what was envisioned in my mind’s eye and put on paper being built. As architects we are part of a small minority of professions, where we are able to drive down the street and see the end product of our work. It is an honor to know that we are improving the built environment for society now and into the future.

What is your vision of architecture & interior design 10 years from now?
That the design community and owners, will still be striving to achieve the 2030 initiative, where all new buildings will have a carbon neutral footprint.

What is your favorite tool of the trade?
3-D renderings, which provide photo-realistic visions of our designs and help to sell the concept to our clients.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Travel domestically and internationally.

What was your latest adventure?
A trip to Kansas City with my wife to site-see and to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.

What is your dream vacation?
A trip to Hawaii and cruise to see the sites on all of the main islands.

What is the best meal/food you've ever had?
Beef Wellington at Jake’s Restaurant, in the Midnight Star Casino in Deadwood, South Dakota.

Which team do you always cheer for?
Professionally – Unfortunately the Minnesota Vikings. As Viking fans say, there is always next year.
College - NDSU (Keith's alma mater!)

What TV show could you binge on all weekend?
NCIS and Big Bang Theory.

What is something people might find surprising about you?
At first glance, people get the impression that I am a quiet and serious person. But after getting to know me, they find that I have a well-developed sense of humor. My wife says that a couple of adult beverages also help.
